Animal Action Center

Thanks for your interest in taking action on animal issues. Your help is essential.

As an animal advocate, the most impactful thing you can do is to meet with your legislators, either remotely or in person! Learn how and who represents you. If you cannot meet with your elected officials, please help by taking action another way. See below for ways to help on specific issues, as well how to become more involved generally.

Take Action on Important Legislation

Urge your state legislators to support: H. 4849, An Act relative to enforcement of chapter 140.

Let your legislators know that you care about maintaining the one day a week during hunting season that families enjoy the outdoors without worrying about conflicts with hunting activities.

Ask your state legislators to support bills that would create more pet-inclusive housing for all families.

Ways to Take Action:

Support the PETS Act!

This omnibus bill combats animal cruelty, ends the sale of dogs and cats in pet shops, reduces animal testing, and fosters pet ownership through pet-inclusive housing policies.

Join the Animal Action Team

By joining the Animal Action Team, you will receive our monthly e-newsletter and also targeted action alerts when animal protection bills reach key junctures in the legislative process — which is when your voice is most critical in influencing your legislators.

Become a Community Advocady Leader

Learn about our state bills and take action

The 2-year legislative session began on January 1, 2025. Legislators had until January 17, 2025 to meet the filing deadline. Around 6,800 bills were filed at the beginning of the legislative session; usually, another couple of thousand are filed late. Check back for updates as bills move through the legislative cycle.

Engage your legislators on social media

The first step when using any social media platform is to follow your elected officials! Legislators will often post information about the campaigns and bills they are focusing on, so following their posts is a good way to stay in the loop.

Write a letter to the editor

Both Opinion-Editorials (Op-eds) and Letters to the Editor (LTEs) in newspapers and other media outlets are effective and powerful ways for animal advocates to educate both the public and policy makers on animal protection issues.
